User’s manual
Choosing the right size battery for your car or bike. The most important performance factor for your battery is how well it can start your vehicle.
The only factor that determines this is how many cranking amps the battery can provide. The best way to decide which size or how many Ultrabatt Lithium PowerBlades you need, is to match Ultrabatts Cranking Amps rating to the CCA rating of the battery that the manufacturer of your vehicle recommends for it.
You can find the CCA specification for the original battery fitment for your car or bike at www.yuasabatteries.com or contact FastBikeGear for our recommendations.
If in doubt alway go bigger. Using a battery with less cranking amps than required will at best shorten the life of your battery or at worst, cause a failure of the non replaceable saftey circuit that will not be covered by the 2 year warranty.
Not all lithium batteries are equal. There is a reason that Ultrabatt are the the bench mark...
Modularity:
-
Modular PowerBlade battery system, If you need a bigger starting kick or more capacity just click together as many PowerBlades as you need. Use a single PowerBlade for a small bike or add more for your V8 race car.
Massive leap in cell power density
-
The previous generation PowerBlades, were already the class leaders in power density. With just a 14% increase in weight over their previous class leading performance power has jumped and incredible 67%.
LifeSpan. Every Power Blade includes a built in state of the art protecSAFE BMS (Battery Management System) that provides some protection for:
-
Anti-bricking, complete discharge protection,
-
Overcharging protection
-
Overvoltage protection
-
Over current protection (replaceable fuse). Protects battery and vehicles wiring loom from over capacity currents.
-
Short-circuit protection ciruit (not replaceable) Prevents excessively high currents creating dangerous heat build up in battery. Lithium batteries have a very low internal resistance and can produce extremely high currents if short circuited. While it takes a lot to destroy a lithium battery, these extemely high currents can produce extreme heat within the battery. This extreme heat can potentially ignite a lithium battery. Protect yourself and your bike. NEVER use a lithium battery on a motorcycle that does not have inbuilt short circuit protection.
-
Charge management - extends the life of your battery by years. If lithium batteries are charged without a BMS (Battery Management System) the internal cells do not charge evenly resulting in a greatly reduced lifespan. If you only expect the battery to last 2-3 years this is probably not an issue. But a lithium battery with an inbuilt BMS should have a target lifespan of 10 years. Vendors whose batteries do not have an inbuilt charge management system recommend that you also purchase an expensive mains powered BMS charger and periodically re-balance the charge of the cells with this to extend the life of your battery. Ultrabatt’s ProtecSAFE technology includes a BMS and avoids this hassle (and less than perfect solution) to ensures that your cells are perfectly balance charged while you are riding your bike. With a Ultrabatt battery the extra cost of an external BMS is unnecessary.
-
Laser welded cell connections –All lithium batteries have multiple cells inside them. Most other Lithium batteries inter-cell connections are either just low temperature soft-soldered or screwed together. Soft-solder breaks and screws vibrate loose. Both these interconnection systems and have proven very fragile in the field. We heard many stories of LiFePO4 batteries in motorcycles and jet skis failing after just a few hours of use due to these inter-cell connections failing. Ultrabatt solves this problem by laser welding the inter-cell connections. Welding is much more robust than low temp soldering or just screwing together the internal cells. Ultrabatt batteries are warranted for and are truly suitable for use in both motorcycle and jet skis where batteries take a pounding.

Full two year, full value warranty. Instead of partial value warranty offered by some competitors.
Charging . The best way to maintain the charge in any lithium battery with a built in Battery Management System is to simply ride or drive you vehicle let your vehicles charging circuit and the ProtectSAFE charge management technology do it’s thing. If your vehicle sits unused for long periods of time or you have removed the charging system to save weight, you can also charge your Ultrabatt battery pack with one of our low cost battery chargers which are specifically designed for charging lithium batteries or any automotive lead acid battery charge that meets the guidelines in the manual.
Before purchasing a Lithium battery for your bike we strongly advise you to read:
What you need to know about Lithium batteries- before you buy one!
Cheaper to own. Lithium LiFePO4 batteries have proven to be cheaper to own than lead acid batteries due to a longer service life (target 10 years). Most customers are fast to catch on to new technology and cost savings. It used to be that racers bought Lithium batteries to save weight, but now it is commuters and weekend riders who are buying Lithium batteries to save money! Most people own each vehicle for a few years and most motorcyclists have worked out that the per year cost of lead acid batteries that last between 1-3 years is fairly expensive when compared to the yearly cost of owning a Lithium battery. In addition, due to the high self-discharge rates of lead acid batteries and the periodic use of motorcycles, most experienced motorcycle owners usually purchase a smart charger to maintain and condition their lead acid batteries. Good quality smart chargers such as the CTEK units typically cost as much as the purchase price of the battery.
Longer charge shelf life. Can start your bike after months of sitting on a shelf. Most customers consequently never need to purchase a mains charger.
Very fast charging. Typically a discharged battery can be topped up in 1-2 hours. By comparison a discharged lead acid battery will take over 12 hours to charge to full capacity.
