One of the key advantages of the Bridgestone tyres for bucket racing is that they are readily available in both a soft and medium compound so you can choosed the ideal compound to meet your requirements. Generally we find most rider use the soft compound front tyre in all conditions.

When to opt to use Medium compound rear tyre in poreference to to the soft compound rear tyre?

We recommend the medium compound rear tyre in preference to the softer compount for use by riders over 80kgs particularly in colder conditions on low speed kart tracks where these three factors conspire to make it difficult to get more than just the surface of the tyre up to temperature quickly without tyre warmers.

When just the surface of the tyre gets hots and the carcas remains cold you are more likely to experience cold tearing on the tyre and consequently loose grip and performance.

To date we have not observed 1st hand a performance advantage for riders under 70kg to use the medium compound tyres in the above conditions.
