Two piece anodised alloy design with carbon fibre reed valves.
Replacement for OEM Ducati Oil Breather, which is prone to leaking & prematurely failed reed valves.
Unlike some cheaper after market oil breathers these are fitted with 1-way reed valves like the original Ducati units. Reed valves maintain negative crankcase pressure which is a very good/necessary thing. The new Ducati Panigale actually has a crankcase vacuum pump to increase negative crankcase pressure further. On a 900CC V-Twin each time each piston comes down it has to pump 450cc of air from the underside of the piston into the crankcase. Creating negative crank pressure reduces the resulting piston pumping loses. Creating negative crank case pressure also helps reduce windage and consequent oil foaming at high revs and reduces oil consumption by reducing oil vapour blow-by from the crankcase (passed the piston rings) into the combustion chamber.

Further notes: The original Ducati units are a reasonably good design but are built down to a cost. The plain fibre reed valves are prone to failure, after a few years. The two plastic halves of the unit are joined together with a crimped on Aluminium band and are prone to leaking oil vapour through this join. If you have oil around the base of your rear cylinder a leaking oil breather valve is one of the two most likely causes. (The other less likely cause is a failed oil gallery O-ring in the base of the rear cylinder).
Fits most Ducats frorm 1991 to 2011. Does not fit 848, 1098,1198, Diavel, newer Multistrada 1200 or 899 & 1199 Panigale
